Sorry that it's been a while. Since I was the only one in the house I only really went to the net cafe to get information; I copied it and rushed back home. kuroe is back now, so I can take a little more time here. He still wants me to come to dinner with him because I kinda forgot to eat when looking after Train. It was roughly one and a half days in when I realised that the MacDonalds near where I work smelled pretty good... Oops?

Anyway, Train is looking good. His face is still raw, but it's so much better than it was. Everyone is right, I guess. We'll see how he goes first. Although I think we're strongly leaning towards keeping him. That would probably mean we would have to move, but we were going to do that anyway. It's not such a great idea to live in housing attached to your company anyway, is it? Especially when they overcharge. It just means we need to get a flat that takes animals as well as teh foreigns. :P

(I phoned the animal shelter (ARK) and when they told me they had someone in [the city where I work, two main stops away on the nearest train line], I was relieved. Then I asked them directly if it was likely they would euthanise the cat and their answer wasn't good enough. I said I couldn't let them take him in that case. The women got all passive-aggressive on me and asked me just what exactly I was planning to do and how would I ever pay for it. I guess, whatever I do, I won't be going through them.)

Anyway, regarding the water, I went back to the vet the next day. I bought two packages of cat food and they gave me medicine free of charge. I've got eye ointment which is applied morning and night, flea powder that is rubbed in once a day and antibiotics that are put in his food once a day. I suspect this is only going to get more expensive though. ^^ They told me that it was special cat food and there was enough water in it. I completely forgot to ask whether Train was male or female though -- we call him 'he', but we don't actually know!

Oh, and in case anyone was wondering, Train is indeed a Black Cat. :P

Poor little thing. He's so lucky to have two such nice people taking good care of him. *crosses fingers he'll be okay*

He looks pretty strong right now, although anything could happen, of course. ^^ *crosses fingers too*

So glad to hear that both you and Train are doing well. If you want to see what sex he is, lift his tail. If there are two little furry balls there, it's a 'he'. If he is very young, they may not be overly obvious yet. Be cautious with the flea powder. As cats wash themselves, it means that he is ingesting it. There are flea meds on the market (pet store out there?) that come in a package of 3 small tubes (3 mo. supply). You squeeze it on by lifting the fur in a few areas, & applying it to the skin (once/month). It is absorbed into the skin layer & does wonders for controlling fleas. It is actually less toxic. You probably need the kitten variety at this point. Just a suggestion. Glad that you have found a vet that is willing to work with you on this. Good luck finding the new place.

Animal shelters here often run on donations & can't afford to keep an animal that requires a lot of care & may not be desired as an adoption. On the other hand they can't let an animal go that isn't healthy either. Catch 22 I guess.

He seems a little fragile to do that. I guess it's not an issue until neutering time. The powder we've been given is specially for kittens and Train only started washing himself today. So we'll keep a watch on him, I guess.

I thought the women's attitude towards me was pretty bad, that's all. Trying to get me to hand the cat over through emotiional blackmail, basically.

When we flea powder our dog, it always goes on the back of his neck, right behind his head (where he basically can't reach it even if he tries! :)

My rat Rosie was called Rosie because he was so little when I got him I thought he was a she!! XD He was the only boy ever called Rosie. :) Train sounds like 'he's' doing very well. I am so pleased!

I'm glad Train is doing well! A little tidbit - I got my Ban-chan way too young, he couldn't have been more than five weeks or or so forth, and was too young for a flea bath. I dumped a bottle of Listerine on him and it worked wonders for killing his fleas. Just make sure to rinse Train off very well if you decide to try it! And I imagine to be careful around his/her face if it's still a bit raw.
Williamgenkischuldich on 30th July 2006 11:45 (UTC)
Well, I have a special powder for Train that the vet chose particularly for him. I'm sure it'll be the best one. ^^ According to the vet's instructions, I don't put any on his face at all.
nekojitanekojita on 30th July 2006 15:36 (UTC)
I just mentioned it for future reference, in case you needed to dose him some more and the flea powder was expensive.

Thanks. :)

You and Train both deserve a hug. *squishes* (The animal shelter's answer would have worried me as well. ~_~ At least the vet seems nice enough.)
Williamgenkischuldich on 30th July 2006 11:46 (UTC)
The vet is very nice. They're giving me lots of free stuff -- which is a relief considering how expensive its going to get later.

Oh, Train sounds so sweet! I hope you are able to keep him and that his health continues to improve.
Williamgenkischuldich on 1st August 2006 16:50 (UTC)
We're actually looking at an apartment tomorrow where we'd be able to keep him if it's any good.

I have my fingers crossed for you that it is what you are looking for.
