Movies: Razzie Nominations
US TV: Dan Savage Gets TV Show
US Comics: Wizard Magazine To Cease Publishing? Before the internet, I used to read Wizard every month, even though it was expensive. It was the only place to read about comics I had.

I was watching TV the other day (yes, I know) and one of my favourite programs came on -- a list-based music nostalgia program with celebrity reactions called something like "Meikyoku Hey!Hey!Hey! Music Champ". This week they devoted the program to Japanese songs that were originally sung by foreigners.

First, my favourite.

Star Wars theme, with Japanese lyrics

How is that not awesome? Here are a few more.

"Daydream Believer", "Holding Out For A Hero", "Careless Whisper", Young Sailorman and "I Will Survive".

Of course, because this is Japan, they stopped half-way and showed a video of cats falling off tables and farting. But great show otherwise. :P Afterwards, I went to my aikido class at the gym (which is where I watch TV). About ten minutes towards the end is set aside for weapon practice, and this is the first week I've done bokken, which was fun.

I am pretty sure YMCA and songs by the Beatles were redone into Japanese. I know for sure YMCA has two covers, one by Hard Gay, and one NOT by Hard Gay. XD;

Yeah, it seems to have been a really big thing back in the day, although I sometimes hear recent Japanese covers -- stuff like Queen and Mariah Carey, iirc.

Wow, somehow Star Wars is MORE epic with Japanese. :D
I kinda want to watch the whole thing that way now. XD

I think I'd get bored pretty quickly if it were all like that. But if I had sound editing skills, I might be tempted to overdub dramatic scenes from the movies... when Luke is mournfully looking at the twins suns, for example. That would be pretty sweet.

Sweet indeed. :D
