Happy New Year everyone!

I actually did get to go out with friends last night. kuroe and I walked from our home near Ikebukuro to Shibuya, which took about an hour and a half.

(Good pictures have a star!)

Street sunset.

After that, we went on to TGIFridays and to karaoke. Sadly, many of the places had cancelled their free time offers for the night (which means you get the early hours at a big discount). Still, one place was open and we had a lot of fun. Afterwards, we went to the Meiji Jingu Shrine in Yoyogi Park. This was one of my highlights last year, but this time I was feeling very sick. I had overdosed on caffeine and that makes me want to throw up rather than go hyper or anything like that.

Approach to Meiji Jingu.[*]

Even so, it was as beautiful as last year. The sky was a dark blue velvet and the crows were cawing their wake up call over the sounds of recorded koto music. We threw in five yen pieces into the pit, because in Japanese it sounds like 'goen' and is related to ideas of karma and relationships with others. Basically, it's good to throw in a 'go-en' piece!

Afterwards, I had my fortune told, but I don't think it was good... I tied it to a fence.

Then we had food in the forest food court. My favourite is 'jagabutter', which is jacket potato with butter and salt or pepper. It was nice, but I still felt really sick. They had so much delicious food there and I couldn't eat any of it...

Next to the food area were UFO catcher machines.

Seriously.

We got back in time to see the sunrise from the rooftop.

Sunrise. [*]
Sunrise with crane (the machine).
Sunrise with lots of houses.
Sunrise (there's no focus to this one, but the mountains in the background look so dream-like and beautiful).

(I'm still obsessing over day_on_earth. You should definitely take a look at what the first day of 2007 looks like around the world.)

For New Year, I resolve to become more expressive in Japanese and also to get something published. I think I should sleep now...

From Moonphase:
  • Cosplay photos from Comiket. I remember some of them. But what really WTFed me was some actually cosplayed as the NAVITIME man. Huh?
  • Cosplay photos from Comiket 2. I saw a few of these as well -- let's just say the camera hides a lot, okay?
  • Reideen site renewal. On the 2nd February, WOWOW will broadcast a Reideen Special. The main series will be broadcast from 3rd March at 7pm. The ending theme is "Kakeashi no Ikizama" and will be sung by Nakamura Ataru-san.
  • Nodame Cantabile anime site renewal. Suwabe Jun'ichi-san plays one of the characters...
