As I mentioned, I went to the Bleach Musical last night and it was lots of fun! I was going to arrive maybe half an hour before doors opened because, y'know, I thought there'd be a queue. If not for the entrance, then for the goods. But I was trading texts with hinoai and she suggested we all meet up in a nearby tearoom. Since I wasn't going to be able to see her afterwards since she had work, I decided to go.

When we eventually got to the venue, there was NO QUEUE. None. And I spent maybe five minutes in line for goods. I've queued longer to use an ATM! Well, anyway, I got Ichigo and Renji's photo sets and a pamphlet.

After that, we went into the hall. I was shocked. It's so SMALL. TINY! MINISCULE!

(I think I should contact the organisers of Tenimyu and tell them I've discovered why the tickets sell out in five minutes! :P)

I was in row Q and I'd actually brought along my Weiss Kreuz opera glasses, but there was no need to even get them out. The venue is sma~all!

kuroe wanted to know how Ichigo became a shinigami and I gave him a quick explanation, adding that he shouldn't worry too much about it since it would surely form part of the musical. It does -- maybe twenty seconds is devoted to it! It really does assume you know the anime or manga REALLY well and I don't really. I've seen the first ten episodes and the most recent episodes and that's about it (actually, some of the recent eps made certain scenes quite sad, but that might be a spoiler?). Otherwise, I just sat back and didn't worry about backstory.

There were some pretty funny moments -- like when they brought Rukia drawings to life and had cast members dressed up as Hollows and Plusses (sp?). And the bunny's ears fell off!!

My favourite moments all involved the shinigami singing together. I also really liked Rukia and many of the female characters -- they tended to be able to sing the best.

In the interval, I bought some more photosets because different characters had made a good impression on me. Oh, how I loved Gin! He had a lovely smile! :P

The best bit though, was the random half hour of fan service and dancing (Ah, I'm so predictable!). They got the whole audience on their feet too and we danced along. It was great!

You have to watch Nerima Daikon Brothers! I saw it the other night and it was SO funny. Really offensive too (think South Park), but it's a full musical anime (and one of the main chara is Morikubo Shoutarou)! It's only on the second ep -- has it made the torrent sites yet? Has anyone else seen it?

I read on sharona1x2's LJ that Death Note is being made into a film... I wonder who'll be cast!?

Also, the XXXholic TV anime cast was announced -- it includes Fukuyama Jun. I have zero time left at this next cafe though.

Yeah, and there are still bits I haven't had time to write about because I was so rushed at the net cafe... It was just lots of fun! ^_^

Wow. I would have love to see a Bleach Musical! Glad to know you had a great time.

DN film? That'll be interesting! :D
Williamgenkischuldich on 19th January 2006 11:42 (UTC)
Thanks!

The DN film should definitely be a musical... I think I have a slight musical fixation. ^^

The musical sounds like it was so much fun. I'm glad you had such a great time.

Now I'm imagining how much fun it would be if there were a DN musical. ^_________^

DN Angel musical??????!! OMG That would SO rock~!!!!!!!
Hi-chan (火ちゃん)hinoai on 18th January 2006 12:43 (UTC)
Oh wait, Death Note~!! XD That would rock too, but DN Angel would be funnier in musical form, I think!!!! :O (But NOTHING can top Gravitation!!)

As someone who is still stuck in Gundam Wing fandom, I'll admit there are a few things I'd rather not see as musicals. *snickers* But only a few. ^_^

dilettantka and I have been wanting to see a Gundam Seed musical. XDXD It would ROCK more than words can express!!!!! ♥

I'd totally go for a Weiss Kreuz one. But I'm so predictable. Meine Liebe would work fantastically well, I think.
Williamgenkischuldich on 19th January 2006 11:44 (UTC)
Thanks!

Yeah, "DNMyu" would be so cool! :)

I already have it covered! ^.^ I did it during the summer, complained to the top staff guy there that this place was way too small. Got answers as to why they picked it too, which surprised me. They totally underestimate Tenimyu's popularity. O.o;;

Don't tell me you didn't notice at all who was sitting behind you about three rows back and immediately across the aisle?????? Two whole ROWS of Tenimyu boys were there!! There were more than 20, I think!!! O.O
Williamgenkischuldich on 19th January 2006 11:47 (UTC)
Yeah, I remember reading. It was more an off-hand comment than anything else. I think I can forgive them for underestimating the popularity of Tenimyu the first time. But the second? The third?

I didn't think it was any of my business. ^^ To be honest, it never really occurred to me that they were "at work" so to speak.

Since lately many Johnny's boys on drama, I bet one of them will be casting for Death Note movie. I want Yamashita Tomohisa for L and Shirota Yuu (not from Johnny's, he was playing Tezuka in Tenimyu) for Light. :D

There seems to be a lot of crossover in cast between Shounen Jump live-action productions, doesn't there? I wonder if they won't go for actors closer in age to the actual characters though..?
