In short, Yuuki Hiro-san was the voice of "Michael Jackson" and suddenly everything about the world of seiyuu made sense.
It opened with Ichirou (Morikubo Shoutarou-san) proclaiming his lust for Pandaikon, the show's mascot. If you haven't been following the show -- and I do believe that's everyone! -- Hideki loves Mako, Mako loves Ichirou, Ichirou loves the panda, the panda loves Yukika, and Yukika loves both the panda and Ichirou. I know that because this time her theme song included the line 「イチローさん パンツ何色？」.
Anyway, since it's a musical, "Michael Jackson" sung a number of songs, surrounded by various zombies and mummies (just like his music videos). And every line was punctuated by 'Aooo!', the famous Michael Jackson scream.
Michael was part of the sinister conspiracy and was trying to take over the daikon patch, so the Nerima Daikon Brothers went to Nabeshin. As usual, they sung the Rental Please song, but this time, Nabeshin had to take part because you need three people to sing it.
He gave them a pie. A blue pie. Because all men like pie.
The zombies attacked again, and Hideki hit Michael in the face with the blue pie. He screamed 'Ao!' and I just about died. Worst. Pun. Ever.
Well... I guess you had to be there. Please, please someone else watch it too? It's beautiful, beautiful crack.
Oh, and can I add that guest stars in the past have also included Inoue Kazuhiko, Suzuki Chihiro and Madono Matsuaki?
Onto things slightly more people will appreciate. I was at the branch next to Pet City yet again, so I went in to have a look at the kitties. The cream British Shorthair is still stalking me... he's so cute!
I also found another corner with more animals! And one of them was a Lion Rabbit! At least, that's what the katakana written on his cage said. Anyone know what the English for 'Lion Rabbit' is? He looked like a regular rabbit, except he had a big fluffy mane.
They also had a baaaaaaaby ferret.
I bought Switch by Naked Ape. I'm completely in love with Dolls, currently running in Zero Sum, so I thought I'd give it a try.
I've only read the first chapter, but my first impression is LOVE! It's set in the Ministry of Welfare's Narcotics Management Department in the Kantou Shin'etsu area and focuses on Etou Kai (new), Kurabayashi Haru (new), Kajiyama Keigo (kachou) and Hiki Masataka (buchou). In the first chapter, Kai and Haru go undercover in a boxing gym to find out more about a former pro-boxer who's now involved in drug-related crime. Kai's love of children is being exploited by everyone else on the team, since he accidentally befriended the son of this man earlier in the manga.
It taps into one of my biggest kinks in anime/manga -- team dynamics! It doesn't matter if they get on badly or not, but I love seeing the way they look after each other, are interested in each other and how they work together. I want to see their everyday interactions, although I'm only interested if they do interesting things outside that (drug investigation, assassination, shinigami work, etc...).
Another thing I appreciate in manga is cute men with glasses and both Haru and Masataka fit that description. Oh, and there ARE pairing hints. Main one seems to be Haru x Kai.
The problem is that there's a ton of new vocab about ministries and bureaus and drugs. At first, the manga throws a lot of kanji at you with no breaks; a string of twenty-one kanji in a row (the highest so far!) would make anyone's eyes glaze over. It does have furigana though, and it gets easier the more you read.
Does anyone know if it's been/being scanlated? I'd love to point everyone in that direction. Anyway, for now, G Fantasy's page has a lot of information on the series. In the drama CD, the cast was:
Kai: Fukuyama Jun
Haru: Sakurai Takahiro
Kajiyama: Nakai Kazuya
Hiki: Suwabe Jun'ichi
I hope everyone is now sufficiently motivated to track this series down. ;)
Psydoll are playing Shinjuku URGA on the 7th April from 6pm. They give ticket prices for turning up on the day, so I guess that's possible. Will have to consider it.
