New BL Anime!?
Moonphase has a list of some of the sites that have 'Nengae' or 'Special New Year Images', which usually involve a work-safe picture of a popular character dressed in a kimono surrounded by new year symbols. Now, Moonphase is very much sparkly-moegirls-yay (but it is the best anime news site I know of), so I'm not going to post ALL of them, just a few. If you have a favourite BL series, chances are it won't be there and you should check yourself.

All pages are home-safe right now unless otherwise stated, but I don't recommend looking at the REST of these websites unless you're prepared for what you might find.

Pretty Girl Games
  • Shoutan Shoujo~Elemental Girl Calling. Game for PS2 which I don't know, but pretty image.
  • KimiKiss. For another game aimed at men.
  • PrincessMaker5. That would be another game site for men but lots of pretty images and cute boars. They even went to the trouble of making a flash animation.
  • Tenky. I don't even know what Tenky is...

Pr0n Girl Games (But no nudity unless stated)
  • Escude. Click the top link to verify you're over eighteen. Inside is a pretty picture of two clothed girls opening a lucky new year bag ("fukubukuro") with a wild boar inside.
  • AXL Soft. Click 'enter' to verify you're over eighteen. Cute kimono picture inside.
  • C-Side. Click 'enter' to verify you're over eighteen. Nicely-coloured kimono picture inside.
  • CUFFS. Click the top link to verify you're over eighteen. Kimono picture with a traditional calligraphy brush inside.
  • Concept. Click 'entrance' to verify you're over eighteen. Cute kimono picture inside.
  • Lass. Click the first link to verify you're over eighteen and living in Japan. Cute image of a temple visit.
  • Lost Script. Click the link to verify you're over eighteen (please note that this one actually has mild female nudity inside, if you squint). WOAH, it's a MAN in traditional dress.
  • Purple Software. Click the first link to verify you're over eighteen. Not only does this have a nice opening page, but inside you will find a pretty kimono picture with a dragon.
  • Minori. Click the top link to verify you're over eighteen. Nice picture inside.
  • Type Moon. Click the first link to verify you're over eighteen. Kimono picture inside.
  • Age Soft. Click 'enter' to verify you're over eighteen. Kimono picture inside.
  • Etude Soft. Pretty kimono picture.
  • August Soft. Kimono picture inside.
  • Cyc Soft. Another kimono picture.
  • Studio Ryokucha. Click the second link to verify you're over eighteen. This one's great -- a dog (the previous year) fighting a wild boar (this year). Not a pretty girl in a kimono in sight.
  • [WARNING!] White Cyc Soft. Cute soft yuri pic with a wild-boar!girl (this year) and a dog!girl (last year). Cute, but you probably won't want anyone looking over your shoulder. Panty shots galore.

  • Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
  • Studio Ghibli
  • Gurren Lagann
  • The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya 1 (I think?)
  • The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya 2
  • Aria

BL (Yaoi) Games (But no nudity unless stated)
  • Palmiers FINALLY! Oh yeah, click 'enter' to verify you're over eighteen.

    And other stuff from Moonphase...
  • After-recording for a moegirl series. Featuring Konishi Katsuyuki-san (and a few others), that's why. Includes cast photo.
  • Manga 4-Koma KINGS Palette is going monthly. From the same company that bought you ZeroSum and Ward.

    Stuff I found out myself:
NEW BL ANIME (OAV)! By the same company that brought you Sensitive Pornograph, this is based on a manga by Yamada Yugi-sensei called 'Saigo no DOOR wo Shimero! Act. 1' ("Close The Final Door! Act. 1"). I have very little idea what it's about, but if it's as good as SP, it'll be hysterically funny. Actually, the short summary makes it sound stupid, overblown and cute. AWESOME. Unlike SP, however, the seiyuu are not in disguise. They are Suzumura Ken'ichi-san, Morikawa Toshiyuki-san, Toochika Kouichi-san and Takimoto Fujiko-san. Released 23rd March.

Hmmm. If it's the one I think it is, it's actually been released over here as "Close the Last Door". I liked it when I read it, but I can't remember much of it (I go through a stupid amount of BL a day, and I only tend to retain my faves and the unique ones). I'll have to re-read it now...

Still, yay for a good studio and new BL title! Yaoi anime is so lacking next to all the very nice manga we get. I'd kill for a really nicely done Viewfinder anime.

Sounds about right. It was my own translation of the title, which was why it appeared in quotation marks. It seems to be about a man who finds out that a man that he'd loved since his university days is getting married. After he meets the bride, he gets drunk and ends up in a hotel room with his coworker. ...I think?

I was going to comment on that one too. I got the first volume a few weeks back (and the exact English title is "Close the last door").

It's not very explicit so that's probably why the seiyuu did not hide their identity... unless the other volumes are more explicit than the first one.

I thought the pseudonym was usually a contract issue -- at least I'm sure I read that somewhere. Just that when they get the chance to invent their own names, seiyuu tend to get a bit creative. :) I'm kind of hoping for some explicitness though. :)

Oh... there are sex scenes but those are quite tame when compared to SP (which I loathed, actually). Contrary to that other title, it HAS a story and characters that interact in other locales than in bed... I liked the first volume and hope the next one won't be too long in the future.

I liked SP... it was funny. :) Tame is fine, though.

So many untranslated H-games... But if I can muddle by way though La Noche de Walpurgis I may as well not complain. I’m a sucker for Type Moon games too anyway.

Yeah, h-games are a huge industry. I guess it depends what kind of game they are -- I find multiple choice ones quite difficult if they give you a time limit. Or, at least, I used too. Haven't tried such a game for ages. I used to really like Sakura Taisen...

In a slightly related fashion, have you ever played Animamundi: Dark Alchemist? It’s not billed as a shounen-ai game apparently but rather as gothic horror but it’s very much in the multiple choice with huge clock icon counting down the seconds you have left to choose before it picks the worst option for you variety.

I suppose things like Divi-Dead seem to lack any sort of accurate timer and too much by way of multiple choice which meant that you just wandered about hoping to trigger events or really strange H-scenes which wasn’t really much of an alternative. I watched a friend play Tokimeki Memorial ages ago and that seemed far too complicated anyway. The timed options I can deal with but when I have to start picking out clothes and matching shoes while faced with slightly strange cell shading, then I just give up. Though that’s more a divide between H-games and dating sims really and I don’t ever get anywhere with the latter.
