Switzerland Invades Liechtenstein!

...And promptly uninvades. Oops.

Well, I only just found out today due to a post on Journalfen:

WorldCon is coming to Japan!

Specifically, Yokohama. And, assuming I don't quit my job(!), I'm going to try to go. I haven't been to a Western-style con for ages. At least, I assume this is one of the ones where you stay-up-all-night-talking-about-Very-Important-Things-and-SF.

I wish I understood the pricing structure though...! Seems pretty expensive, but I still want to go.

It has an (unofficial) LJ, of course: nippon2007

The concert is tomorrow and I'm terrified.

Oh yeah, trying to get Tenimyu tickets too. But mainly concert.

They say it was an accident but they’re just bitter about the boarder extension.

Hmm... interesting. :) Thanks for the link.

Ooh, I want to go! ;o; I've never heard of that con before, but it would be a dream to be able to meet other sci-fi fans here in Japan (whether they live here or not). But I would never pay that much for a convention registration... it's way too high even for Japan. I emailed them about volunteering though, and even though it asked for a number, I hope that they'd be willing to take me on as a volunteer without having a membership. Usually it's comped... >.>

But if they let me in, I'm really looking forward to it! I want to be in the masquerade! Or even if I'm not allowed in, I can just go and hang out in the lobbys and stuff like a lot of people do at AX, just to meet other fans. That would be great. <3

Oh, wow, it'd never crossed my mind to volunteer. That would be fantastic. We're both probably bilingual enough. :)

It's actually a really big con, very famous. first time it's come to Japan though.

Myself and ljquin will be there!

Worldcon does look expensive at the first glance, but it's worth remembering that it is a week-long (5 day) convention. Unfortunately it's getting pretty close to the con now, so registration is going to be more expensive than it would be otherwise.

It's looking like it's going to be a lot of fun, and it's the first time that it has been held in Asia so it's pretty exciting.

Re: Worldcon
Although I will only be able to make it for two of those five days. Still... a traditional Western con does appeal. I'm going to have to look into it. I wish I'd known sooner!
