I went there directly after work, although I was worried that there would be nothing left to see there. I needn't have worried! There were mikoshi (portable shrines that lots of people carry together), food vendors and inflatable idols.

I had the best chocobanana ever. First of all, you played pinball and, depending on your score, chose your chocolate banana. Only the VERY HIGHEST scores got the chocolate bananas with a fresh strawberry on top. All the others had silver balls, rainbow sprinkle, marshmallows, little candy stars, embedded pocky... they were little works of art. I could've sworn I took a picture, but I can't find it.
There was also jacket potato, shaved ice, grilled potato, fish (ayu) on a stick... every festival is delicious. :)
I'm also going tomorrow with starrbeam!
kuroe got us a TV a couple of weeks ago, but he didn't tell me we needed an aerial. I wanted to watch the Maison Ikkoku TV special that was aired tonight. I don't know if anyone will torrent it though. Takahashi Rumiko-sensei was the mangaka that got me into manga/anime when there was very little else being translated, but I think very few people have heard of it now.
