I went to a local park on Friday, since it was a national holiday, and took some spring photographs. There are twenty-five photos in total under the cut. Pictures from the Tokyo International Anime Fair will follow tomorrow or when I have time. If you want to know my initial impressions though, check out my Twitter account, which was updated throughout the day. :) The main thing is that I saw the new Ai no Kusabi trailer.

This is one of my favourite photos from this set.

I call this one "Composition with Darth Vader Head and Tree".

Half in the shade of another tree, these flowers seemed luminous.

The inclusion of the concrete tower was a deliberate decision on my part to create a contrast between the traditional garden and the urban area surrounding it. In the next two pictures, the camera is a little more deceptive. :)

This photo was kind of an accident, but it's one of my favourites in this set. I was just going to leave, then I turned around for some reason. The mid-afternoon sun was positioned perfectly in relation to the fountain and I took this picture.

I'm still at the end of a cold, so I couldn't smell anything noticeable. ^^

Yeah, there's a new OAV series out from next month. It's a remake.

Nice photos! :)

Re: The TIAF...Casey and I were going to be going back to Tokyo in 2010 anyway, and since we almost missed the sakura when we went in early April in 2007, we decided to push it up a little.

So when we saw the dates for the TIAF, we decided to try and hit it all and aim for mid-March. It looks like that's a good plan, from your photos. :)

Did they announce the 2010 dates at the event? And did you have a good time? I'm afraid I'm Twitter ignorant, so I couldn't read what you had already written (couldn't even find a link, actually -_-;;).

It's just the beginning of the sakura season. These photos are a little deceptive, really, since there were just two or three trees I was able to photograph. Apparently they will peak on the 26th in Tokyo this year, starting in Chiyoda-ku (<--- I've no idea how they can predict this!).

TIAF is usually later too, as I recall. I think they deliberately chose it to coincide with the national holiday.

It really does depend... I don't have many anime I'm following right now and didn't have the patience or money to queue for seiyuu. It's fun wandering round though and picking up free stuff. You'll see it all in about 2-3 hours, depending on your interest in seiyuu and which anime you follow.

The main thing is that I saw the new Ai no Kusabi trailer.

But I don't know what you can really do about Iason's voice - Shiozawa Kaneto *was* that role. I'm still looking forward to seeing it, though. (One day.)

I considered asking if you'd pick up some swag if I sent money through paypal - but I really need to get rid of stuff, not accumulate more. %^<

Also: flowers = very good, ducks = very good, Darth Vader = funny. You guys are definitely ahead of us with spring...

Oh - and yes! I did check out the Improv Everywhere location Thursday night. There are placards up again. About 25 people on that part of the platform, and maybe 3-4 of us running around looking at things and laughing. I'm sure they thought we were weird. I took pictures, but nothing better than anything available at the IE site. That was a good laugh.

But... But... Iason should be Shiozawa Kaneto. I'm upset that's he's not! (Totally irrational, considering the situation, but STILL.)

I'm still laughing about Riki's pulsating abs, but I'll get to that later. :P

Glad to here you got to see the IE folk's work. :)

Nah, it's a more local park, near Fuchuu. Fuchuu Kouen maybe? It's has the Fuchuu Art Gallery on its grounds.
