I took quite a long break from LJ recently, except to complain, but I'm back now. I was studying for the JLPT, which I finally took on Sunday. I took it about three years ago and passed, so I decided enough time had gone by and I wanted to take it to the next level. So to speak.
Well, I didn't pass (although results are due in February), but I know so many more kanji now as a result of my exam-prompted study. When I looked over my notebooks from my Japanese class, they consisted entirely of bad puns, insects and literary terms.
After the exam, I went with a group of friends to the Berry Cafe in Ginza, which is almost not as expensive as it looks. I think I'll be doing a blog post on that sooner or later. They gave me a free box of Zodiac-themed tea for visiting twice. Which is nice.
[Edit: I forgot to mention, but I just read Eda's journal and was reminded. We saw cosplayers at the izakaya we went to later. They noticed us staring, so "Roy Mustang" gave us a thumbs up. I returned it, and he explained who he was. I immediately said, "Hagaren, right?" and everyone was pretty shocked. I could name Inu Yasha and San from Mononoke Hime too(!). So I asked "Inu Yasha" what he was doing in a modern-day izakaya and he said he was with Kagome. Everyone lol'd. We were in the middle of paying the bill, so I had to go, but it was a nice use of real Japanese after the test!]
Now it's over, it means that I have time to translate stuff. How about some anime news?
Finally, I got my hair cut with
(Also I bought Grell's glasses chain the other day and wearing it also makes me feel good. I guess it's because I can't wear steampunk goggles or cosplay non-glasses-wearing characters, so something that makes my glasses look awesome is pretty sweet. :))
