The Japan 30-day Meme: Day 05
NSFW Google blacklist List of words Google won't instant-search for. As you can imagine NSFW (in case you glossed over the link title).

World's first ornithopter takes flight

It's already Monday over here and I'm on my way to work. Just passed Ikebukuro, very tired. At least I managed to get a seat [on the train] though.

Day 05 - Which, if any, Japanese mannerisms or expressions have you adopted?

Probably taking pictures of my food. It's completely normal here to take pictures wherever you feel like it, especially at restaurants. I've posted a few recent examples above. I never saw anybody else do it in Britain and my parents thought I'd gone mad. I just wanted a picture of a traditional roast dinner for the kids I teach... Is that really so strange?

Some people would claim that I bow, but it's all filthy lies.

I love taking pictures of my food, too... maybe it's an asian thing! It's good to remember the delicious or pretty dishes, and I actually like how I can remember a food more vividly when I see the picture again. Mmmh! (I'm not doing it too often, though, but definitely often enough that european people sometimes are surprised!)

Maybe... it doesn't seem to be a British thing at least. Perhaps it comes from earlier adoption of mobile phone technology, so people were more likely to take pictures on the spur of the moment?
