Spam From Japan: Tokyo Jidai Festival on Wednesday
I kind of want to participate in NaNoWriMo, but mainly because I like the idea of it more than the (unusable) work. I need to work on my query/synopsis instead and try to get it out before the end of the month. That's been slowing me down lately. I haven't thought of any ideas that attract me enough to write a novel around them, except those which involve characters from the last novel.
Day 19 - Your favourite Japanese character(s) and Gachapon/UFO Catcher toys
I'm not interested in most character goods -- that is, characters that are just supposed to hang off your keitai or adorn your notebook. Anime characters are a different matter though. When plastic figures of Kuroshitsuji characters come out, I'll usually pick up a box or two. I love the element of randomness.
Hello Kitty and friends, I don't care about unless for the tackiness value. About three years ago I got my family a pink Christmas tree card that opened out so you could stand it up. It was covered in pink glitter with Hello Kitty faces hanging off in place of baubles. When you pressed it, it played Christmas songs.
...My parents still have it. My mother loves it and enjoys playing it to unsuspecting guests to see how they will react. She does the same with her placemat of the Virgin Mary which sings a Catholic anthem when you press a button on it.
