I saw Sweeney Todd on Friday night, starring Ichimura Masachika and Ootake Shinobu. The songs were all translated a little differently, for better or worse. The Ballad of Sweeney Todd, which was an instrumental in the film version, was literally translated and so the lyrics didn't really scan well. Later though, they managed to rhyme "Mrs Lovett's Meat Pie" with "Shurui ga ippai!" so all was forgiven. Meanwhile, they completely rewrote A Little Priest (probably the most humorous number) and the song worked much better in comparison.

The set was probably the biggest and most impressive I've seen, not to mention dangerous. They had an operational trapdoor/chute under the barber's chair and some pieces required the actors to run along moving sections of the set.

All in all, I really enjoyed it.

On Saturday night, I went to Machine Magic after a long hiatus. Psydoll premièred three new songs, but Nekoi hasn't decided on the titles yet. It's been a long time since I was at an event that wasn't smoke-free, so I felt a bit sick afterwards. Bizarrely, I got invited to the zoo by an artist I know best for his dressing up in a skin-tight rubber suit. And the bartender insisted I come in June to see an event featuring military-themed goth bands like 2BULLET and AkiraDeath.

Tokyo Dark Castle (Saturday, midnight until morning) and a Midnight Mess-related event (†S★M GARDEN†) are next week too. Sadly, I can't go to the latter as I have work on Saturday.
